Hello and welcome to Reinventing this Journey! I’m Melissa; wife and mother of two teenage boys. I love to cook, craft, garden and travel. I enjoy the great outdoors and dislike being cooped up in the winter. You might know me from Outnumbered 3 to 1, which I’ve run since 2009.
Many things have changed in my life within the 8 years since I started my blogging journey 8 years ago and I’ve decided that it’s time for a fresh start, a new beginning so to speak. I’m no longer who I was in the beginning. Sometimes in fact, I feel like a completely different person.
I went from being a stay at home mom with no lavish dreams other than to shower my kids with love and a happy family – to someone who works hard every day to make the impossible possible. I want so much more out of this life and I have big plans to see as much of this amazing Earth as I can.
When we lost my father in 2011, my younger siblings came to live with us. We needed more space and a house big enough for our new family of 7 so we moved 45 minutes away to a little town on a lake in Southeastern Wisconsin. Shortly after, my father in law got sick and came and live with us too. It’s been a journey since then and I am no longer “outnumbered 3 to 1” so really, reinventing this journey has been a long time coming.
My sons’ dad and I finally tied the knot in 2012 right here in our backyard, after 14 years together. Over the years, our kids have grown and grown, now towering over me by a few inches. We’ve lost two dogs, brought two others into our family, adopted a cat and also lost a ferret. We’ve gained 4 nephews (quadruplets) and a great nephew but lost my great grandmother, as well as my mother in law to cancer. Our lives have drastically changed to say the least and I’ve decided that it’s time to start reinventing this journey of mine, hence the name. Reinventing This Journey is just that, a total reinvention and I’ll be sharing my journey along the way. Here you will find easy, yet delicious recipes, craft and DIY projects, gardening tips and pretty flowers, stories about our pets, our family, our travels and everything in between. I’m reinventing this journey and making it up as I go.
